Resort Description

Sun Valley is a hot lapper's dream. With 3,400 feet of vertical of some of the faster and more fun groomers around, racking up daily vertical is a non-issue. The Challenger Quad, the longest vertically rising chairlift in North America (3,142 feet), provides long runs without any mechanical interruption.

Big open bowls along Seattle Ridge provide glorified steeps that will feel as good as they look. 220 inches of annual snowfall keep you covered as you rip sunny turns down any number of Sun Valley’s 80 trails. And while Sun Valley may have a glamorous reputation, check your glitz presumptions at the door and get ready for some serious vert.

Sun Valley's new initiative turns focus from groomed goodness to the freeski scene, elevating its park, pipe, and supercross game. With an Olympic-sized halfpipe and enough metal to slide for the most ambitious of jibbers, Sun Valley is looking to become Idaho's park skiing domain. Also worth checking out is the new Competitive Cross Course located on Dollar Mountain's Otto's Run.

Stay close to the mountain at the Sun Valley Lodge and head into Ketchum for some good food and great company. Grumpy’s is the spot for a good burger, while those looking for a juicy steak should wander over to Pio's. Apple's Bar and Grill in Warm Springs is another can’t-miss. Mountain biking through the Warm Springs burn zone is a beautiful and haunting ride that's worth checking out during the summer months.
